Dania Beach Arts & Seafood Celebration to Feature 100 Ton Sand Sculpture and Other New Performance Art Presentations

Dania Beach Arts & Seafood Celebration is Back March 29th & 30th with Food & Entertainment You Will Not Want To Miss

The Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Agency continues to roll out new, exciting information about their upcoming signature event, the Dania Beach Arts & Seafood Celebration. The award winning event, which is scheduled for March 29th and 30th this year, will not only be host to fine artists and artisans, delicious seafood vendors and great live musical entertainment, but it will also present the award winning Team Sandtastic. Last year, this talented team of artists demonstrated their claim that “sand is a dynamic art medium”, producing a 50 ton sand sculpture in the center of Dania Beach’s Frost Park, home of the annual celebration. Dania Beach officials are pleased to bring back this fabulous performance art feature as the centerpiece for the event and announced that this year’s sculpture will be created from 100 tons of sand. The expansion of this exciting feature was made possible in part by a generous sponsorship from Truly Nolen. “We are grateful that members of the business community recognize the marketing value of this signature event and have considered our sponsorship opportunities and partnered with us again,” said Jeremy Earle, CRA Executive Director.

Team Sandtastic will begin sculpting in Frost Park on Thursday night so that the finished work of art will be complete by Sunday afternoon. “All we use is sand and water, no cement or fixatives are mixed in and we never create the exact same sculpture twice,” said Mark Mason of Team Sandtastic. Throughout Saturday and Sunday during the event hours of 10 am to 7 pm, event patrons can enjoy watching the artists create or, participate in sculpting at the Sand Clinic; an area for “kids” of all ages to practice their own sculpting techniques and participate in the fun!

To further celebrate the performance art theme, at 4:00 pm on Saturday the 29th, the main stage area will come alive with “Impulse Art”, a live performance where the rhythm of music by the Hollywood Drum Circle inspires Uruguayan artist Daniel Pontet to paint with his feet. Together these artists create and explore a fusion of music and painting that is sure to delight the senses. To round out this visual entertainment, on Saturday and Sunday, located in the Arts Village- Fine Arts Treasure Cove sponsored by Storm Tight Windows, performance artists will create live works of art accompanied by DJ Royce of Dania Beach. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch, appreciate the artistic process and consider their own creativity during these unique performance art presentations.
