Dania Beach Arts & Seafood Celebration’s Kick-off Event Sets the Stage for the Upcoming Event, Recognizing Sponsors, Volunteers & The Spirit of the Community
A magnetic energy and intense sense of community could be felt last night at the Arts & Seafood Celebration Kick-Off Event hosted by the Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Agency.
A magnetic energy and intense sense of community could be felt last night at the Arts & Seafood Celebration Kick-Off Event hosted by the Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Agency. Mayor Walter B. Duke, III, Vice-Mayor Chickie Brandimarte, Commissioner Bobbie H. Grace and Commissioner Albert C. Jones welcomed guests and each expressed their gratitude for the entire community of people that make this event a success. The highlight of the night was the unveiling of the official event poster. Graphic artist and Dania Beach Creative Arts Council member, Kim Ford, who generously donated her services again this year to design a signature “Dania Beach” work of art that truly embodies the lifestyle of this charming, artful, proud and progressive city. When the commemorative poster was unveiled, the room simply came alive with excitement and the echo of, “I want that…” could be heard throughout the crowd! Fortunately for these and other art collectors, the posters will be available for sale at the event both days, March 29th and 30th.
The night’s theme centering on celebrating the creative arts also featured students and professors from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, a new event sponsor this year. The Art Institute has generously donated their talent to capture the essence of this award winning event through videography and photography. Dania Beach resident, and Digital Film and Video Production professor, Kevin Smith is overwhelmingly described by his students, “as the most inspiring, challenging, and dedicated professor in the program…he connects with his students on a personal level and allows them the room to grow and guides them into the most effective and talented professionals they can be”. Professor Smith was leading and directing his students last night with “lights, cameras and action”, which set the stage for the creative atmosphere that filled the room and the atmosphere that event producers’ anticipate attendees will experience at the upcoming event on March 29th and 30th. The class will continue filming and photographing during the event, then edit and produce a promotional video for marketing the 3rd annual celebration in 2015. “This newly formed relationship with the Art Institute’s Digital Film and Video Production Department and Dania Beach resident and professor, Kevin Smith, is a another major step forward for the CRA nurturing community partnerships to embrace the creative arts industry in and around the City, enhancing quality of life and encouraging economic development,” said Jeremy Earle, CRA Executive Director.
The event will be host to fine artists and artisans, delicious seafood vendors (and other treats), great live musical entertainment, Team Sandtastic’s 100 ton sand sculpture, live performance art and numerous interactive art activities for all ages.
